Watch Them Bug Eyes

“Where Queen?” J-Boy asked once I stepped out of the whip at the spot where I had told him to meet me.

We were on Shotgun Row, and although everyone was trying to play it cool, I could tell that people were curious about us being there. The thing about Shotgun Row was that it was where a lot of Queen’s crew and their families lived, but her and I didn’t frequent the area unless we had a reason to and usually the reason wasn’t good.

“She ain’t here,” I answered J-Boy shooting him a look of annoyance for asking about my chick. He had his own business and his own bitches. Wasn’t no reason for him to be asking me about mine.

“I was just wondering because I know—”

“You don’t know shit,” I informed him. “And stop wondering about my muthafuckin’ woman. What you need to be doin’ is tryin’ to find your bitch ass baby mama. Any word on her yet?”

J-Boy looked like he was sucking on something sour for a moment, and I could tell that he didn’t enjoy me checkin’ his ass, but I didn’t give a shit. It was the truth. You were never supposed to be checkin’ on the next nigga’s woman. We weren’t that damn friendly. Plus, he hadn’t bothered to give me dap or anything when he saw me. If you a nigga and the first thing out your mouth is something about my chick, then we got a fuckin’ problem.

“That’s what I wanted to talk to you and Queen about because it concerns both of y’all. But anyways, Meka got killed last night. Somebody put her body in her shop and set in on fire. Queen’s mark was on it. Everybody on the Row thinks that y’all had her killed because she wouldn’t give out info on Tiffany. But since I know that her ass told us where Tiffany is, you know what I’m thinking, right?”

With my jaw clenched tight, I nodded my head. “Tiffany did that shit and tried to set us up.”

J-Boy nodded. “Yep, but she couldn’t have done it on her own. Word is that she was killed in her apartment and transported to the shop. There is no way Tiffany’s ass could have dragged her body there.”

“Man-Man.”

“Exactly,” J-Boy added nodding his head. “Meka was well liked around here. Everybody went to that damn shop so ain’t nobody happy about seeing her ass dead.”

I looked around and noticed that all eyes were on us. Everybody was trying to figure out what was going on now that we’d launched an attack on anyone who may have had information on Tiffany.

“What the fuck that bitch got hidin’ in her pussy to make niggas go stupid?” I muttered thinking about Trinidad and Man-Man. It wasn’t until I saw the blank look on J-Boy’s face that I remembered he’d fallen for her too.

“My bad, man,” I told him.

“You good. She bad,” he added with a laugh and I joined in.

“Shit, I know.
